COMIN’ ONION TWISTS”
1 large sweet
onion, such as Vidalia or Walla Walla
1 t. sugar
1 T. butter
1 T. fresh parsley, minced
1 T. fresh rosemary, minced
Salt and pepper to taste
1 lb. frozen pizza dough, thawed
Melt butter
in large pan. Thinly slice sweet onion, add to butter and cook over
medium heat along with sugar until caramelized – Should take
about 10 minutes if you stir occasionally. Stir in minced parsley,
rosemary, salt, and pepper. Set aside.
Lightly flour
surface and rolling pin, then roll thawed dough until you get a
12”x15” rectangle. With the long side towards you, spread
onion mixture onto right side of dough (leaving a small border).
Fold left side of dough over onions & press edges to seal. Slice
one-inch strips crosswise. You should get around 12 strips. Twist
each one and place on greased baking sheet. Bake 17-20 minutes or
until golden - *you can also brush lightly with beaten egg &
sprinkle with herbs or sesame seeds for a little something extra!
