Mushroom
Parmesan
1
lb. button mushrooms, sliced
1/3 cup butter
3 T. flour
¾ cup milk
¾ cup cream
½ t. salt
¼ t. each pepper and nutmeg
¼ cup bread crumbs
½ cup shredded Parmesan
Melt
2 T. butter in large, deep frying pan; add mushrooms. Cook
over low heat, covered until softened. In another saucepan,
blend remaining 3 T. butter with flour; whisk in milk, cream,
salt, pepper and nutmeg. Stir until well thickened.
Place sautéed mushrooms into casserole dish and pour
on sauce. Sprinkle with crumbs and Parmesan. Brown under broiler
for a few minutes until golden brown. This is delicious over noodles or served with your favorite
steak.
